Job Summary:

Pertemps TM is seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Chef Manager to join our team in a busy kitchen at a Further Education institution in Walsall. As a key member of the catering team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional food and customer service, while working closely with the Chef Manager and team of catering assistants/cooks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for the Chef Manager in their absence, overseeing daily kitchen operations, including ordering, cash handling, and team supervision.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of menus, ensuring a diverse and appealing food offering that meets the needs of students and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the catering team to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and customer service.
  • Assist with the management of kitchen resources, including inventory, equipment, and supplies.
  • Participate in health and safety initiatives, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and students.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, students, and stakeholders, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.

Requirements:

  • City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent qualification in culinary arts.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a B&I, hotel, secondary, or further education setting.
  • Excellent food standards, practical skills, and knowledge of health and safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational, team building, and motivational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
