About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Specialist to join our team at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Neonatal Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective care to intensive care, high dependency, and special care neonates without direct supervision.
  • Assess care needs, plan, implement, and evaluate programs of care.
  • Participate in the supervision, mentorship, and appraisal of pre- and post-registration staff.
  • Regularly coordinate the management of the unit, including the coordination of special care, high dependency, or intensive care rooms.
Requirements
  • Post-registration experience in neonatal critical care.
  • Safeguarding children Level 1, 2, and 3 training.
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience at Band 5 QIS in a level 2 or 3 neonatal unit.
  • Experience of ward management/shift coordinating.
  • Familiarity with neonatal inter-hospital transfer.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in the care of neonates requiring surgical treatment.
  • Contemporary knowledge of professional nursing strategy.
  • Ability to transfer babies internally unsupervised.
  • Effective management and coordination of an area/shift.
