This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team of social workers, working to achieve the best possible outcomes for looked-after children through adoption within Tameside local authority.
As a Social Worker - Adoption Specialist, you will be part of a supportive and passionate team, working closely with care planning social workers to advise and support decision-making around plans of adoption.
You will be responsible for family finding for children, seeking to identify matches with adoptive families who can meet their needs, and placing children within their pre-adoptive placements, ensuring support is in place and securing legal permanence through adoption.
This role involves extensive report writing and completion of assessments, with caseloads managed to facilitate time for quality direct work with children in preparing them for their plan of adoption and supporting continued life story work with children and families.
Support to birth family members is also a crucial part of this role.
About YouWe are looking for a qualified social worker, registered with Social Work England, with post-qualifying experience in a statutory child care setting, ideally including work in an adoption service.
You must have particular strengths in report writing and assessments, with knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and minimum standards.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to manage and prioritise the demands of the role, meeting timeframes for children to prevent delay.
