Position Overview

The Mechanical Project Engineer will report directly to the Project Engineering Manager and will play a pivotal role within a dedicated team tasked with overseeing the engineering aspects of large-scale energy projects. The initial focus will be on a significant hybrid energy project.

Key Responsibilities

1. **Design Coordination for Mechanical Engineering Packages:**

a. Facilitate the integration of design contributions from various contractors involved in the project.

b. Proactively identify and address design challenges early in the process, escalating issues to the head of engineering when necessary.

c. Lead collaborative design meetings with contractors to ensure effective communication and resolution of engineering tasks.

d. Maintain and update the design register, providing consistent updates to the project team.

e. Oversee contractor timelines, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of design outputs.

2. **Document Management for Mechanical Engineering:**

a. Oversee all mechanical and process documentation, including drawings and calculations essential for project execution.

b. Ensure that all contractors utilize the most current versions of documents throughout the design and construction phases.

3. **Facilitating Communication of Design Information:**

a. Be present on-site regularly to engage with the construction team and address design-related queries.

b. Conduct site visits to monitor design progress and assist the project management team with any arising issues.

4. **Future Project Design Development:**

a. Collaborate with the Engineering Director to create designs and specifications for upcoming energy projects.

5. **Owner's Engineer Role:**

a. Provide oversight and review of mechanical design work conducted by contractors across various projects.

6. **Mechanical Design Specification:**

a. Develop high-level specifications for mechanical design relevant to energy projects.

7. **Representation in Meetings:**

a. Act as a representative for the company in discussions with designers, suppliers, and on-site teams.

Preferred Skills

While the primary responsibilities are outlined above, the ideal candidate may possess some of the following skills:

· Expertise in gas engine project design.

· Familiarity with electrical safety regulations up to 400kV.

· Knowledge of gas peaking plant construction processes.

· Understanding of process engineering, including the ability to analyze PFDs and P&IDs.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D CAD design.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience

3-10 years of experience in an EPC or energy generation setting, particularly in gas peaking plants, energy storage, or renewable energy projects.
