Reliability and Safety Specialist

Position: Reliability and Safety Technician
Location: Tyne & Wear – Washington
Compensation: Up to £42,132 based on qualifications and experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
- Implement and manage the site’s Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) strategy to meet performance indicators, including tracking and resolving follow-up actions.
- Ensure that all maintenance Safe Systems of Work are accurately documented and regularly updated.
- Enhance the efficiency of all equipment and machinery through the application of continuous improvement methodologies.
- Lead and facilitate projects aimed at improving machine reliability while mentoring key personnel in reliability improvement practices.
- Collect and analyze breakdown data and maintenance performance metrics to enhance equipment availability and identify improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate critical spare parts lists produced from RCM assessments using a cost-benefit analysis, and manage the procurement and inventory of these parts.
- Participate in energy conservation initiatives as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Essential:
- Completion of a Time Served Apprenticeship (Electrical/Mechanical) through an accredited institution.
- Thorough understanding of Safe Systems of Work.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis techniques.
- Experience with RCM and breakdown analysis.
Desirable:
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in an engineering field.
- Qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Experience with SAP systems.
- Proven experience in team management.

About the Maintenance Team:
The Maintenance team consists of approximately 40 members, fostering a close-knit environment. This role is pivotal in advancing the Continuous Improvement and reliability aspects of the team, collaborating closely with maintenance and other departments to drive enhancements and uphold safety standards.
