Job Title: Welder/Workshop Technician
Job Summary:
Activus Recruitment Ltd is seeking a skilled Welder/Workshop Technician to join our client's team based in Blackburn, Aberdeen for a full-time, permanent role. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing welding and hardfacing operations, with a primary focus on servicing, maintaining, and repairing roller cone drill bits and hole openers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding tasks using MIG and stick welding methods, as well as electric and gas oxy acetylene cutting.
- Service and repair roller cone bits, including removing, inspecting, re-installing compensators, and greasing.
- Re-tipping of roller cone mill tooth bits.
- Manufacture and repair of roller cone bit breakers.
- Service and repair of hole openers and hole opener cutters.
- Execute hardfacing processes to restore worn or damaged surfaces, ensuring durability and longevity.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine appropriate welding techniques.
- Maintain and repair workshop machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Operate a forklift truck when required to load and offload equipment.
- Follow safety guidelines and best practices to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to support various projects and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in welding and hardfacing, preferably in a workshop or industrial setting.
- Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG and stick) and familiar with hardfacing procedures and oxy acetylene cutting.
- Knowledge of roller cone drill bits, bit breakers, and hole openers preferred.
- Ability to operate various hand tools and overhead crane.
- Forklift certificate preferred.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet company objectives.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities, with a focus on collaboration.
- UK Driving License required.
Work Environment:
This position is based in the workshop facility in Blackburn, with a focus on safety and teamwork. Candidates should be comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
