Highways Maintenance Apprentice Opportunity at FM Conway

Role Overview for Highways Maintenance Apprentices
You will engage in a nurturing learning environment designed to equip you with the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviors required to thrive as a Highways Maintenance Apprentice. This role involves completing a Level 2 apprenticeship focused on the maintenance and repair of highways, roads, pavements, and street furniture, along with understanding the necessary traffic management protocols.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Acquiring a variety of construction techniques applicable to Civil Engineering Projects
- Developing skills in various construction areas, including groundworks, structural concrete, pavement construction, drainage, basic carpentry, and hard landscaping
- Performing all tasks with diligence and a strong emphasis on safety, utilizing the correct tools, safeguards, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensuring a safe working environment is established before commencing any tasks and promptly reporting any changes in circumstances to management
- Maintaining tools and equipment in optimal condition, ensuring they are securely stored when not in use, and reporting any issues to your supervisor
- Utilizing digital tools for site record keeping, workflow management, and project oversight
- Committing to your studies to acquire the knowledge, skills, and behaviors of a Highways Operative
Ideal Candidate Profile for Highways Maintenance Apprentices
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess a minimum of GCSE level or equivalent qualifications in Mathematics and English. We are looking for individuals who are dependable, industrious, and have a genuine interest in the construction sector. Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow are essential attributes.
