As a Computational Chemist within our Digital R&D division at Victrex, your responsibilities will include:
- Innovate: Craft and execute computational experiments aimed at predicting the behavior and properties of monomers and polymers.
- Collaborate: Partner with experimental chemists, materials scientists, and engineers to validate and enhance computational models.
- Discover: Investigate new horizons in polymer chemistry, including biodegradable materials and high-performance composites.
- Optimize: Employ molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, and machine learning techniques to refine polymer synthesis and processing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct computational experiments to forecast the behavior and properties of monomers and polymers.
Develop and implement novel algorithms for polymer simulation and analysis.
Analyze computational data to inform the synthesis and evaluation of new materials.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to incorporate computational insights into practical applications.
Stay updated on the latest developments in computational chemistry and polymer science.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
Experience: Demonstrated expertise in computational chemistry, particularly in the area of polymers.
Skills: Proficient in molecular modeling software (e.g., Gaussian, GROMACS, LAMMPS) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++).
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of polymer chemistry, thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics.
Attributes: Creative thinker, adept problem solver, collaborative team player, and effective communicator.
