About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our Education Mental Health Support Team in Birmingham. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to children and young people in educational settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing issues
  • Support designated senior mental health leads in each setting
  • Provide timely advice to school and college staff and parents as required
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a core MHP qualification relevant to mental health, alongside postgraduate experience working with children and young people and an understanding of the principles and practice of CBT and clinical supervision.

Key skills and experience include:

  • Knowledge of educational environments
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Knowledge of capacity and consent issues including Gillick competence
  • Experience of working with children and young people, their families and others
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders
  • Experience of working with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Experience of working with anxiety disorders
  • Experience of working with affective (mood) disorders
  • Experience of the delivery of specific therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families (CBT, solution focused brief therapy)
