Electrical and Mechanical Technician

We are seeking a skilled Electrical and Mechanical Technician to join our team at West Midlands Metro. As a key member of our Infrastructure department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our tramway network by performing electrical and mechanical maintenance and repair work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to electrical and mechanical systems, including traction power substations.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with the planned maintenance schedule.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective maintenance strategies.
  • Assist with the testing and commissioning of new systems.
  • Switch electrical substations as required.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of our Asset Management Information System.
  • Participate in on-call duties to ensure the network remains operational 24/7.

Requirements:

  • Good working knowledge and competence in electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • GCSE Maths, English, and Science at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Recognised Electrical qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the company.
  • Fully qualified to 18th Edition (Wiring regulations) and High Voltage Authorised Person training.
