Our Heritage Planning Unit (HPU), part of the Planning and Urban Design Department, is committed to delivering expert cultural heritage consultancy. With teams located in multiple regions, the HPU supports large-scale planning initiatives and collaborates with various departments, including Architecture, Environment, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Facilitate interactions with clients through workshops, presentations, and advocacy efforts.
  • Research and Analysis: Perform comprehensive research, literature reviews, and draft cultural heritage assessments; conduct site evaluations, including archaeological assessments.
  • Design Contributions: Offer heritage-informed design recommendations, including conservation strategies and urban planning solutions.
  • Report Development: Prepare detailed reports such as Statements of Significance, townscape studies, and Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Consultant Evaluation: Assess the technical contributions of external consultants.
  • Proposal Preparation: Develop proposals for prospective projects.
  • Professional Assistance: Provide support for urban planning and design initiatives, including the creation of presentations and documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (particularly ArcMapPRO) and Adobe Suite; familiarity with additional design software is advantageous (training available).
  • Proven experience in landscape archaeology, environmental assessments, and cultural heritage practices.
  • Strong understanding of conservation methodologies and legal frameworks, with respect for diverse regional approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and effective time management abilities.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for site evaluations.
