About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for young people aged 13-18 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, promoting their emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Plan and deliver activities that cater to individual needs, stimulating learning and integration within the home.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, guidelines, and policies, including the Children's Act, Children's Homes Regulations, and National Minimum Standards.
  • Monitor and record young people's progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and placing authorities to ensure high-quality care for young people.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with parents and carers, promoting young people's learning and development.
  • Contribute to a flexible and dynamic working environment, undertaking domestic tasks as needed.
  • Work closely with the Manager and staff team to ensure the home's philosophy is fulfilled.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior, with a willingness to develop skills further.
  • Hold a driving license and have access to a vehicle, due to the rural location of our services.
  • Hold a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
  • Be able to challenge unacceptable behavior, provide firm boundaries, and provide care that meets individual needs.
  • Be able to work as part of a team, follow delegated tasks, and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and listen.
