Job Title: Braking Software Controls Engineer

Join Cummins Inc. as a Braking Software Controls Engineer and contribute to the development of advanced braking system application software. As a key member of the Advanced Engineering & Innovation Group, you will design, develop, and optimize braking system application software to ensure reliability and safety specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to specify system requirements and functionality.
  • Develop and design control systems for electronic braking systems and other mechatronics, electro-pneumatic, and electrical smart systems.
  • Write custom control logic and algorithms to achieve precise control and performance optimization.
  • Ensure software and systems comply with safety standards, including risk assessments and implementation of safety protocols.
  • Conduct MIL, SIL, and HIL testing and vehicle level validation of control systems to ensure they meet performance and quality standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in electro-mechanical and electro-pneumatic systems.
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including system schematics, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in designing and programming control systems for mechatronics, electro-pneumatic, or electrical systems, motors, and linear actuators.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and development of Braking controls software (ABS, EBS, ESC function software development).
  • Experience in use of simulation software and programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
  • Prior experience in rapid prototype software development from concept to validation and production software development.
  • Knowledge of electronics and electro-pneumatic components, and product development processes.
