Head of Plant Molecular Biology Laboratories

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to lead our Plant Molecular Biology Laboratories at the University of Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the laboratories, ensuring the smooth operation of equipment, managing supplies and budgets, and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a small team of technical staff and provide training in core technical areas, including plant molecular biology, plant pathology, plant bio-imaging, and the use of the Wolfson Photosynthesis Suite.
- Support associated plant science laboratory-based research within the School, providing specialist professional and technical advice, direction, and input across a range of activities.
- Manage diverse groups of people, providing leadership and guidance to ensure the effective delivery of teaching and research.
- Work closely with core technical staff, academic research staff, research fellows, postdocs, research postgraduates, MSci, and BSc students to deliver teaching and research.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of relevant technical approaches, ideally having a degree in a relevant area or extensive relevant work experience. They will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively to high technical, academic, and interpersonal standards.
What We OfferWe offer a competitive salary of £37,099 to £41,732 per annum, Grade: I, and a range of benefits, including a pension scheme, annual leave, and access to training and development opportunities.
