As a Services Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to design and implement a variety of services that support the entire development team. You will collaborate with both the Online and Gameplay teams to deliver and deploy services that can be effortlessly integrated into their features, continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the scalability and adaptability of these systems. As a senior member of the team, you will mentor less experienced colleagues, ensuring the production of high-quality code across the board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and deployment of the live service codebase.
  • Engage in peer code reviews to uphold coding standards.
  • Implement live service features with a focus on performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with various disciplines (design, art, production) to gather requirements for live service features.
  • Establish online service functionalities such as matchmaking, social features, and commerce.
  • Provide support and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, enhancing the overall standards of the Engineering team.
  • Promote quality within Lighthouse Games and our online services development.
  • Actively participate in fostering a collaborative and creative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working closely with design and technical teams to develop robust and scalable online services.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute large projects with minimal oversight.
  • Examples of clean, maintainable code that adheres to established standards and guidelines, including automated testing processes.
  • Awareness of risks associated with your work and the broader project, with proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Experience mentoring engineers at both junior and mid-level stages.
