We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Nurse to join our Critical Care team at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. As a critical care specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our team.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and prioritize the needs of critically ill patients and their families, ensuring provision of client-centered care that focuses on promoting health and well-being.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with hospital policies and standards, developing and maintaining effective communication with patients and families.
- Assess educational and informational needs of patients and families, providing up-to-date information to enable them to participate in care planning.
- Enhance care within the clinical area by utilizing relevant research outcomes when planning and delivering nursing care.
- Evaluate nursing care, informing the nurse in charge/unit Sister and medical staff of patients' changing healthcare needs.
- Model competent skills and behaviors, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
- Maintain safe practice according to hospital policies and standards, ensuring all prescribed drugs and treatments are administered in accordance with hospital policy.
- Participate in internal rotation to night duty as required, preparing patients for safe transfer to other critical care areas and liaising with relevant nursing, medical, and para-medical personnel and relatives.
- Take responsibility for personal development, maintaining a personal development plan and staying up-to-date with current nursing practice.
- Supervise clinical staff, disseminating knowledge and current developments, and developing oneself and others in areas of practice.
- Participate in planned programs of appraisal with the band 6 Team leader/unit Sister, ensuring own learning and development needs are met.
- Liaise with the School of Nursing, participating in the teaching of basic and post-basic learners and training assessments.
- Demonstrate a pleasant and approachable manner, creating and promoting a good working relationship with colleagues and patients.
- Show professional and courteous behavior when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to patient information, both at work and outside of working hours.
- Be aware of and adhere to all policies, including sickness and absence, confidentiality, uniform, and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Report and record all accidents and complaints according to the agreed policy.
- Be aware of limitations and utilize the preceptor system for any issues that arise.
- Show respect for members of the team and endorse the ward's philosophy of giving mutual support.
