Category 2 Inspection Engineer

We are currently seeking a Category 2 Inspection Engineer for a permanent office-based role, working standard hours from Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of Major, Intermediate, and Minor pressure systems (including steam) in accordance with the customer’s Quality Management System, WSE, and procedures aligned with The Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations (COMAH) 2015 and Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the inspection and integrity engineering teams.
  • Prepare accurate and timely inspection reports, cross-referenced with NDT reports as necessary.
  • Assist in developing long-term and short-term inspection plans and scopes of work.
  • Participate in expert groups to formulate Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) plans, considering Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) guidelines.
  • Monitor temporary repairs on a monthly basis.
  • Collaborate with Technical Authorities, Corrosion Engineers, Area Inspectors, and Onshore Inspection Engineers as required.
  • Conduct technical reviews of completed workpacks and inspection reports.
  • Perform NDT duties as needed to support engineering inspections.
  • Manage onsite inspection and NDT equipment.
  • Coordinate and supervise Plant and NDT inspectors to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Issue permits in support of inspection activities as necessary.
  • Compile detailed daily reports summarizing the progress and scope of inspection tasks.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess an Incorporated Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council or an equivalent qualification (e.g., relevant HNC with applicable experience, NVQ Level IV Engineering) and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant engineering discipline, including at least one year in a role related to in-service inspection of pressure systems.
