Position Overview
Are you a skilled Paediatric Critical Care Nurse looking for a rewarding opportunity? We invite you to consider joining our dedicated Paediatric Critical Care management team.
If you are currently enrolled in the Paediatric Critical Care course, you are welcome to apply, with the understanding that an offer will be contingent upon successful completion of the course.
Our unit consists of 14 beds, including 8 Paediatric Intensive Care beds and 6 Paediatric High Dependency beds. We provide care for children across various specialties and collaborate closely with the Children's Medical Emergency Transport service. Our team is supported by the Paediatric Critical Care Education Team and partners with a leading university to offer valuable learning opportunities for postgraduate nurses.
Candidates must be registered nurses with a valid RN, RSCN, or RN Child qualification, possessing significant experience in a Paediatric Critical Care setting as a Band 5 nurse. A recognized Critical Care qualification and Mentors and Assessors qualification are essential. The role requires leadership capabilities to oversee a team and coordinate care in the absence of a Band 7 Sister.
Strong organizational skills are crucial, as you will be responsible for mentoring a group of Band 5 nurses.
Key Responsibilities

- Acting as an effective leader and role model, regularly overseeing the Unit to ensure high standards of patient care and a safe environment.
- Delivering direct clinical care and leveraging experience to support the implementation of clinical and non-clinical governance.
- Mentoring a group of Band 5 nurses, conducting annual appraisals, and ensuring that staff training is current.
- Maintaining registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
