The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced data analyst to join our team at The University of Edinburgh. As a Strategic Business Analyst, you will play a key role in helping us understand and get value from our data.

You will work on important statistical returns and summary statistics required by the Scottish Funding Council, and on a variety of internal management information. Your skills in data manipulation and transformation will be essential in creating and editing reports from corporate systems or datasets.

You will be skilled at recognising and communicating key trends and ensuring we pick out the right insights to inform senior managers taking decisions.

We are open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your Skills and Attributes

  • Relevant professional experience in data analysis and business intelligence
  • Demonstrable complex data manipulation and transformation experience, including creating and editing reports from corporate systems or datasets
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate to a range of stakeholders, and experience clearly summarising and presenting data in different media for varied audiences
  • Attention to detail and understanding of data quality and integrity issues
  • Experience of using Business Intelligence tools such as Qlikview, Alteryx or Power BI and use of a programming language, such as Python, R or SQL
