Whittington Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiographic Specialist to join our Acute Patient Access, Clinical Support Services, and Women's Health team.

Full-time hours per week, including participation in a 24/7 shift rotation covering days, nights, and weekends.
This role is open to recent graduates in Radiography.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize patient care to ensure optimal service delivery and efficiency.
- Independently assess and justify referrals for X-Ray procedures, adhering to established imaging protocols to minimize unnecessary radiation exposure in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Maintain proficiency in the safe operation of X-Ray machinery and effectively manage any equipment malfunctions as per training guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and adherence to departmental and professional policies and procedures.
- Ensure accurate data entry to uphold the integrity of patient and service records.
- Provide professional support to colleagues, medical personnel, and other staff members.
- Engage in Continuous Professional Development to enhance professional practice.

Clinical Duties
- Evaluate referral requests and ensure compliance with radiographic regulations and local protocols.
- Manage patient prioritization to enhance service quality.
- Match examination protocols to clinical indications effectively.
- Collaborate with referring clinicians to clarify complex radiographic requests.
- Serve as a resource for referrers, clinical staff, patients, and their families.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives regarding procedures, ensuring understanding.

- Document patient consent and provide clear instructions for procedures.
- Accurately input patient examination data into Imaging Information Systems.
- Position patients appropriately for examinations, adapting techniques as necessary.

- Participate in patient monitoring and oxygen administration as required.
- Identify and address any unexpected findings during examinations.
- Work independently while seeking guidance from senior staff when necessary.
Operational Responsibilities
- Organize documentation related to procedures for efficient processing.
- Operate departmental equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to manual handling regulations.
- Conduct regular equipment checks and report any faults promptly.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality assurance initiatives.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
Training and Development
- Support the development of assistants and student radiographers.
- Participate in the induction of new staff members.
- Ensure proper training in equipment usage before independent operation.
