About the Role: Duty Manager - SPAR Bala

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Operations Leader to join our award-winning SPAR store in Bala, North Wales. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, you will play a vital role in driving success and growth within this thriving retail environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Store Manager in ensuring a safe, legal, and high-performing store environment, taking overall responsibility for the entire store during your shifts as Duty Manager.
  • Assist the Store Manager in achieving all store operations objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead, coach, and support colleagues, fostering a motivated and empowered team through a positive and engaging management style. This includes conducting performance management and absence management as needed.
  • Be responsible for occasional opening/closing procedures, colleague safety, stock security, cash handling, and accountability during your shifts.
  • Conduct cash reconciliations, voids, refunds, and other management tasks for till colleagues.
  • Set a positive example and lead the team to deliver exceptional customer service, differentiating us from our competitors.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to promote the store by identifying and implementing opportunities to engage with and support the local community.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and processes.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous management or supervisory experience within a food retail environment or a similar fast-paced operation is essential.
  • A strong commitment to achieving and maintaining exceptional customer service standards is crucial.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills are required.
  • The ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels is essential.
  • You must be able to take appropriate action and make sound decisions independently.
  • A collaborative approach and a commitment to teamwork are highly valued.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and a positive attitude are key attributes for success in this role.
  • A dedication to continuous learning and applying new knowledge to improve performance is essential.
