About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to join our Passenger Fleet Team at Leicestershire County Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for transporting vulnerable adults and children with special educational needs to their destinations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport passengers safely and efficiently, adhering to relevant policies, legislation, and procedures.
  • Ensure the personal wellbeing and safety of passengers at all times.
  • Operate a range of vehicles, including minibuses, to transport passengers and goods.
  • Work collaboratively with escorts and other team members to provide a high-quality service.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including passenger manifests and vehicle logs.
  • Stay up-to-date with road traffic legislation and highway code requirements.

Requirements

  • Full driving license with minibus entitlement (category D1 or D).
  • Experience in driving and transporting individuals or groups of people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people of varying capabilities.
  • Ability to lift and move passengers and equipment, with training provided.
  • Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
