About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our Pre-Operative Assessment Team at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth preparation of adult patients for their surgical admission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake a range of investigations to assess patient fitness for surgery, including obtaining patient observations, ECGs, blood samples, urine samples, and infection control screening.
  • Provide support to trained nursing staff in maintaining a stable and safe environment, and assist with clerical duties as required.
  • Escort patients to other wards, departments, or hospitals as requested by the nurse-in-charge.
  • Participate in collecting data for the purpose of audit and contribute to the improvement of patient care.
  • Following training, undertake Electrocardiogram and Phlebotomy on selected patients.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Healthcare Assistant role or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Word processing and IT skills, with a view to developing an NVQ.
