Job Summary

Walsh Employment is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead a small purchasing and logistics team at our offices in southwest Birmingham. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategic alliances with core suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing purchasing costs to meet budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplier Management:
    • Develop and maintain strategic alliances with core suppliers
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve the best value
  • Purchasing Strategy:
    • Formulate and implement purchasing strategies that align with the company's objectives
    • Ensure all procurement activities support EPC project requirements and QCD targets
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a small team of purchasing and logistics professionals
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment
  • Cost Management:
    • Monitor and control purchasing costs to meet budgetary constraints
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality
  • Logistics Coordination:
    • Oversee the logistics function to ensure timely delivery of materials and components
    • Manage supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all purchased materials and components meet the company's stringent quality standards
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to address any quality issues

  • Graduate calibre, CIPS qualification preferred
