Wates Living Space Planned is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Design Manager - Net Zero Carbon to join our team in Redditch. This role will focus on managing the design process for specific planned projects, from tender win through to completion.

As a key member of the project team, you will play a vital role in ensuring successful project delivery by overseeing all aspects of the design process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive design program and information schedule, collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to meet design, procurement, and construction requirements.
  • Oversee on-site design implementation, working closely with site-based resources and adhering to established design management procedures to ensure timely production of design information.
  • Lead the preparation of contractor proposals, ensuring they are comprehensive, unambiguous, and reviewed by the bid team. Maintain up-to-date proposals reflecting post-tender negotiations.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all design deliverables to confirm budget adherence, coordination completeness, and buildability.
  • Evaluate designs for potential health and safety risks prior to construction commencement.
  • Ensure the project team adheres to the agreed-upon contractor proposals.
  • Manage the design change process as designated.
  • Organize and chair regular design team meetings as assigned.
  • Provide expert guidance to the project team on all design-related matters.
