Job Overview

Wood is actively pursuing talented individuals for the role of Commercial Lead within its Operations EMEA division. This position is integral to our commitment to delivering exceptional project outcomes and maintaining superior standards in commercial management.

Role Purpose:

The Commercial Lead will provide strategic direction and oversight for all commercial activities related to designated projects, ensuring adherence to corporate and project-specific commercial objectives throughout all phases of contract engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Commercial Lead include:
  • Advocating for safe operational practices within the commercial team.
  • Conducting pre-award activities, including collaborating with the proposals team to perform comprehensive commercial evaluations of tender documents and preparing necessary qualifications and pricing notes.
  • Overseeing post-award administration, ensuring accurate contract setup in business systems and timely invoice preparation that reflects full contract entitlements.
  • Managing change effectively through contract variations and maintaining comprehensive commercial administration records.
  • Negotiating and overseeing client incentive programs.
  • Driving key commercial outcomes, including margin enhancement and cash flow improvement strategies.
  • Serving as the primary contact for risk register management.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial Delegation of Authority for projects.
  • Regularly interfacing with clients to maintain strong relationships.
  • Leading the project team in ensuring contract compliance and providing necessary commercial support.
  • Preparing monthly reports on commercial management and contributing to Contract Performance Reviews.
  • Facilitating the governance and execution of the Financial Management Framework within assigned projects.
  • Collaborating with various internal stakeholders on commercial management, risk assessments, corporate reporting, and contractual negotiations.
  • Assisting in the negotiation of Terms and Conditions with clients and suppliers.
  • Engaging with internal teams (Contract/Project Managers, Engineers) to address commercial management issues and resolve disputes.
  • Mentoring and developing junior commercial staff.
  • Enhancing project delivery while mitigating any potential risks or commercial liabilities for Wood.
  • Contributing to value creation and commercial success for both Wood and its clients.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and leadership abilities, demonstrating a commitment to upholding Wood's core values and commercial practices with integrity. Significant experience in commercial administration processes is essential.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant experience in a similar capacity or a professional qualification is preferred.
  • Experience in managing contractual claims and dispute resolution is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in interpreting contractual documentation.
  • Experience in tendering and negotiation processes.
  • Strong supervisory capabilities.
