Position Overview
The successful candidate will spearhead a pioneering initiative aimed at national clinical transformation, representing the RD&E in collaboration with the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), NHSE, and GIRFT.
In this role, the individual will serve as a clinical nurse specialist focused on revision knee procedures and act as a network coordinator for EKHUFT, integrating seamlessly into a well-established multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities will include fostering ongoing communication with patients and establishing support and counseling pathways tailored to their needs. The role will also involve coordinating the team, which includes managing weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, complex case consultations, and overseeing the MDM coordinators. Essential skills include counseling, leadership, and a comprehensive understanding of complex arthroplasty, wound management solutions, and antibiotic protocols, all aimed at enhancing patient care. A significant aspect of this position is the establishment of non-surgical care pathways and the submission of audits to demonstrate adherence to national standards, alongside data contributions to the National Joint Registry and Bone and Joint Infection Registry.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate as a high-level practitioner with advanced clinical skills within a multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive, timely, and quality clinical care.
- Utilize enhanced clinical expertise, exercising sound judgment and discretion in clinical care while maintaining a professional portfolio that supports their scope of practice.
- Work independently to conduct clinical assessments, develop working diagnoses, and provide timely treatment interventions in line with their professional scope.
- Offer expert professional guidance to patients, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Oversee and drive improvements in care standards through practice supervision, clinical audits, implementation of evidence-based practices, and the provision of professional leadership.
- Lead the adoption of new evidence-based practices and contribute to the development of clinical evidence through research, audits, and collaboration with clinical or academic personnel.
- Engage in clinical governance by spearheading quality improvement initiatives, audits, and research activities.
