Overview of the Position:
The Senior Actuarial Analyst (Reserving Control) will play a pivotal role in overseeing the reserving process. This position is essential for ensuring the timely and accurate execution of analyses and reporting by the reserving team to a variety of stakeholders. The role encompasses the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of core processes within the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage the quarterly US GAAP reserving process (both gross and net of outward reinsurance) across all LII/LMRe metalines and regional units.
- Provide coordination support for the reserving process within the team, including managing the delivery calendar, handoffs, and data readiness.
- Oversee the delivery of the reserving process, including management of key files/templates utilized by the team, systems, and results database.
- Ensure operational control and rigor in the process to guarantee robust results.
- Confirm that the outputs of the Actuarial Function are timely, precise, and suitable for their intended purpose.
- Drive the development and enhancement of all reserving processes and tools, supporting successful transformation initiatives involving both tactical and strategic improvements.
- Act as a trusted advisor for inquiries related to the reserving process, ensuring that solutions align with downstream requirements.
- Deliver high-quality professional service characterized by technical rigor, transparency, and consistency in all responsibilities.
- Mentor and support junior analysts in their development.
- Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and demonstrate behaviors aligned with the Conduct Risk Policy, reflecting Liberty Mutual's commitment to placing customers at the center of our operations and maintaining integrity.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Nearly or newly qualified actuary (open to non-actuarial candidates with strong reserving knowledge).
- Experience in London Market reserving with a comprehensive understanding of specialty (re)insurance portfolios. Relevant experience from consulting, commercial, or personal lines is also welcomed.
- Proficient IT skills, particularly advanced knowledge of MS Excel and the MS Office suite. Familiarity with big data manipulation and visualization tools such as SQL and Power BI is advantageous, as is experience with analytics coding in languages like R or Python.
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of internal and external clients.
- Ability to navigate complexity and articulate it clearly to others.
- Exceptional organizational skills for managing deliverables and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, seeking guidance only for novel situations or development projects.
- A growth-oriented mindset, demonstrating motivation and commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively within a broader team, especially during periods of change and transformation.
