We are seeking a dedicated Works Manager to enhance our Civil Engineering project team, playing a pivotal role in delivering projects that provide optimal value solutions for our clients, particularly in managing critical utility asset diversions.
Key Responsibilities:
In partnership with the Project Lead, you will oversee and direct the construction workforce and subcontractors, ensuring that all work is executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with contractual and quality standards.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Managing and allocating the necessary workforce and equipment skills on-site.
- Assisting in maintaining the appropriate budgeted resources, including reporting and forecasting for equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractor expenses.
- Inspiring and leading teams to achieve efficient, effective, and safe operations.
- Conducting safety briefings and site inductions.
- Ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance, striving for zero incidents across all areas.
- Adhering to the business management system.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring adherence to project timelines and expectations.
- Maximizing the efficient use of trained personnel, equipment, and materials while effectively managing teams and subcontractors.
- Delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Ensuring high-quality workmanship.
- Setting up and conducting all necessary site inductions.
Qualifications:
We are eager to connect with candidates who possess:
- Extensive experience in significant civil engineering projects, particularly in highways, utilities, earthworks, drainage, and structures, ideally with several years of experience.
- Strong HSEQ standards, with certifications such as SMSTS or SSSTS.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication within teams, and the capability to manage changes and supply chain relationships.
- Highly developed organizational skills to efficiently manage labor and equipment, with a focus on productivity and cost management.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ or equivalent for CSCS, a valid CSCS card, Temporary Work Supervisor Training, and Confined Spaces certification.
- A full UK driving license.
