Mercer is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pensions Actuarial Consultant to join our team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide clients with expert advice on funding, investment, risk transfer, and covenant.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver customized advice and solutions to clients, with a primary focus on DB pension schemes.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Act as final technical reviewer for actuarial calculations and ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Supervise, appraise, and mentor junior colleagues, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their roles.
- Participate in new business prospect activity and contribute to the development of new business opportunities.
- Set and negotiate fees, monitor fee budgets, and ensure effective project management.
- Stay up-to-date with current pension issues and their impact on clients, providing expert advice and guidance.
- Communicate complex technical information to clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Significant experience working with trustees and/or corporates on DB pensions within an actuarial consultancy role.
- Demonstrated business acumen, adaptability, and a desire to be in front of clients, underpinned by strong technical skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, numerical, and critical thinking skills, with a good understanding of actuarial approaches for pensions.
- Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a team environment.
- A strong understanding of UK pension schemes and their operations.
