About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Integrated Logistics Solutions (ILS) team. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical solutions that meet our customers' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of senior engineers to deliver ILS activities within integrated project teams.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources to successfully deliver work packages or projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Performance Management: Lead regular team meetings to share feedback, including performance metrics and progress updates.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide ILS and Technical Publications guidance across the business unit, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Document Production: Produce, review, and approve engineering technical documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Professional Development: Conduct Professional Development Reviews and support the development of team members, identifying areas for growth and providing coaching and training opportunities.
  • Project Delivery: Manage team performance to support delivery to requirements, schedule, budget, and quality, ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Leadership and Performance Management: Lead and manage a functional team of up to 10 engineering managers and senior engineers, defining and maintaining appropriate team reporting to support business performance.
  • Decision Making: Make timely decisions considering risk and business performance, acting promptly to mobilize resources and team to resolve issues.
  • Financial Management: Deliver functional performance to support company financial objectives, managing functional budget and ensuring ILS principles influence early design to minimize costs.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Qualified to degree level in Engineering or Apprenticeship with sufficient experience in the field or relevant transferrable skills.
  • Leadership Experience: Experience of leading and developing high-performing teams, with a broad understanding of ILS and engineering principles.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of S1000x international specifications, Defence Standards or Mil Standards related to ILS, Configuration Management and Documentation Control, and ILS elements (e.g., Design Interface, Human Factors, Disposal Management, Software Support, Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transport).
  • Additional Skills: Awareness of Health and Safety at Work legislation, United Kingdom and European Union Disposal Legislation, Military support skills and capabilities, procedures, and requirements, Development of technical documentation, and Development of engineering solutions.
