We are seeking a highly skilled Lecturer in Signal Processing and Autonomous Systems to join our team at the University of Edinburgh.

About the Role

The successful candidate will undertake teaching duties in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with a specific focus in digital and statistical signal processing, detection and tracking systems, and related subject areas. They will also carry out research in signal processing and autonomous systems, with a demonstrated ability to apply their research in domains such as sensor signal processing and information fusion, target detection and tracking using radar, sonar, or other modalities, and signal processing and control systems for robotics and autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver effective learning programmes and curricula in Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
  • Conduct research in signal processing and autonomous systems, with a focus on applications in defence and security sectors.
  • Contribute to attracting external research funding and other financial support.
  • Develop and maintain a growing research portfolio in signal processing and autonomous systems.
  • Support and motivate students and colleagues, and plan and organise resources effectively.
Requirements
  • A reputation in signal processing and autonomous systems, demonstrated by published results from research, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and recognition among research users and/or industry.
  • An ability to design and deliver integrated curricula and assessment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills, with high proficiency in written and oral English language.
  • A Doctorate in a STEM-related subject, or equivalent.
