Job Overview
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Practitioner specializing in Mammography to join our dedicated team, providing exceptional breast imaging services.
To qualify for this role, candidates should possess a Foundation Degree in Breast Imaging (FdSc), a Certificate of Higher Education in Mammography, or equivalent qualifications. While we prefer candidates with experience, we are open to training individuals who demonstrate the necessary potential. Evidence of prior learning is essential for funding eligibility, and candidates must have Functional Skills level 2 in English and Maths or GCSE grades A-C/4-9.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, diligent, and possess outstanding communication skills. The position will require flexibility to travel across various locations as part of our Trust-wide service.
Main Responsibilities
As an Assistant Practitioner, you will:
- Deliver high-quality mammography services as part of the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) and Symptomatic Service under the guidance of a qualified Mammographer.
- Adhere to established protocols and departmental guidelines.
- Assist Radiologists, Radiographers, and other members of the multidisciplinary breast imaging team.
- Maintain a flexible approach to service delivery, adapting to changes in the rota as necessary.
- Work across multiple static breast units and mobile screening units, requiring travel.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- GCSE Maths and English Grades A-C/4-9 or Functional Skills Maths and English level 2 or equivalent.
- Experience working within a breast screening unit.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to demonstrate literacy and numeracy.
Desirable:
- Foundation Degree in Breast Imaging (FdSc) or equivalent.
- Previous experience with IT systems relevant to breast imaging.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential:
- Understanding of the Assistant Practitioner role in breast imaging.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Basic knowledge of common conditions related to breast screening.
