We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Care Dentist to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Special Care Dentist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to patients with additional needs, including those with complex clinical treatment plans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide a full range of clinical dental care for patients with additional needs, including those requiring treatment under general anaesthesia and sedation.
- Work in a variety of locations, including domiciliary care and acute hospitals, to provide dental treatment as required.
- Promote and maintain patients' oral health within NHS regulations, including providing dental screening and epidemiological surveys as required.
- Provide clinical leadership for the local dental team and work with the wider clinical team to provide high-quality dental care for patients.
- Meet personal performance targets for clinical activity and management tasks, including line management duties for direct reports.
- Meet Band B Dental Officer competencies as set out within the terms and conditions of the Salaried Dental Service Contract.
- BDS or equivalent qualification.
- Appropriate postgraduate qualification.
- Full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- VT Number or equivalent.
- Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
- On an NHS Dental Performers List.
- Familiarity with IT systems.
- Commitment to learn NHS rules and regulations.
- Significant experience of providing routine dental care.
- Previous experience of working within Special Care Dentistry.
- Experience of complex clinical treatment plans.
- Experience of managing/mentoring a clinical dental team.
