Job Title: Principal Structural Designer

Expleo is seeking a highly skilled Principal Structural Designer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical requirements of our projects are met.

Responsibilities:
  • Integrate technical functions of the project team to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Develop capabilities to support the project.
  • Support checking of deliverables.
  • Support continuous process improvement.
  • Be the technical focal point of the team and build good working relationships with customers.
  • Provide advice and support to team leaders and members to ensure the project is on track.
  • Consult on planning activities.
  • Consult on impact of additional scope and change.
  • Work with the Technical Authority and functional team to provide technical governance and ensure technical aspects of the project comply with the QMS.
  • Support and identify cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support development of team members so they have an appreciation of the different functions involved in the delivery of the project.
  • Consult on training needs, to Head of Business & Chief Engineers, of individuals in support of the project.
Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND/Degree in mechanical engineering.
Essential Skills:
  • Experience of marine hardware, systems requirements, and standards.
  • Experience in leading engineering teams to deliver complex multi-functional projects.
  • Strong engineering background for the capabilities listed.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing engineering role.
  • Marine Defence experience preferred.
Experience:
  • 10+ years of marine design, preferably with subsurface.
