We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our residential children's home team. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and guidance to children, while supporting and mentoring junior staff members.
Your primary responsibility will be to create a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that fosters the well-being and development of the children in our care. You will lead by example, assist in the day-to-day operations of the home, and ensure that the care team delivers consistent, child-centered support.
Key Responsibilities:Care and Support:- Provide direct care and emotional support to children, ensuring their individual needs are met in a safe and caring environment.
- Support children in their personal development, promoting independence, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
- Build trusting relationships with the children, advocating for their needs and ensuring their voices are heard.
- Support and mentor junior care staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality care.
- Lead by example, promoting best practices in care delivery and fostering a positive team culture.
- Assist in managing staff rotas and ensure the team works cohesively to meet the needs of the children.
- Actively contribute to safeguarding the children, identifying and responding to any concerns in accordance with established procedures and statutory guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and protective environment for the children, working closely with other professionals to ensure their welfare.
- Support the home in maintaining compliance with all relevant Ofsted regulations, legislation, and standards.
- Accurately document the progress of children, ensuring that care plans are up to date and all records are maintained to a high standard.
- Level 3 Diploma in Children's and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in a residential children's care setting.
- Knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding procedures, and child protection.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and support junior staff effectively.
- Experience working with children with emotional and behavioral difficulties (EBD).
- Knowledge of therapeutic care approaches.
