About the Role

RSM is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our Risk Assurance team in Birmingham. As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality internal audit services to our financial services clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of clients, delivering assurance activities and ensuring work is completed on time, on budget, and in line with the RSM Internal Audit Manual.
  • Oversee the delivery of client work, being a recognized RSM Manager for client engagements.
  • Manage agreed client portfolios, ensuring work is delivered to time, on budget, and in line with the RSM Internal Audit Manual.
  • Develop and agree engagement scopes with clients.
  • Oversee client delivery by team members.
  • Undertake more specialist/bespoke areas of auditing due to experience.
  • Complete quality assurance reviews of internal audit files and reports.
  • Oversee the production of Progress Reports, Annual Reports, and Audit Strategies prior to Senior Management sign-off.
  • Provide effective stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Represent RSM as required at networking events and industry group meetings, client management, and audit committee meetings.

About the Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced internal auditor with a financial services background and a strong track record of delivering high-quality internal audit services. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Practical experience of working in an equivalent position in a professional services firm or similar function within an in-house internal audit team.
  • Technical proficiency in executing and leading reviews in accordance with IIA standards and the standards on effective audit in financial services across at least some of the following areas:
    • Consumer Duty
    • Regulatory reporting (COREP/FINREP)
    • Client Money and Assets (CASS)
    • Senior Managers & Certification Regime
    • FCA Systems and Controls – especially in relation to Compliance and Risk Management Frameworks
    • Governance
    • Conduct Risk Management
    • Vulnerable customers
  • Experience of working in different financial services sectors, such as:
    • Insurance
    • Banking
    • Alternative Finance / Lending
    • Investment Management and Funds
    • Wealth / Asset Management
    • Consumer finance

Essential Requirements

  • Professional qualification, preferably in Internal Audit or Accountancy
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • High standard of written and verbal communication
