About the Role
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Sister to join our team. As a Senior Sister, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing leadership at ward/unit level and working with the Matron to enhance nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a ward/department philosophy that has the patient at the centre of care.
- Provide professional nursing leadership at ward/unit level and work with the Matron to enhance nursing practice.
- Ensure accountability for the delivery of quality performance at the ward/unit level.
- Be responsible for ensuring 24-hour cover for the services provided and skill mix.
- Contribute effectively to inter-professional team working.
Requirements
- 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register.
- Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor.
- Degree or working towards.
- Completion of appropriate specialty Course.
- Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice.
- Extensive experience in specialty to include considerable experience at Band 6 level.
- Evidence of clinical leadership ability.
- Proven management experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Evidence of utilising evidence in practice.
