About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design process on building projects from feasibility to completion.
The Design Manager will have full design responsibility for distinct projects, including preparing concept designs, planning applications, building warrant applications, and statutory approvals. They will also collaborate with internal departments to value engineer and maximize efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have 5 years' experience in new build design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate project briefs into design. They will also have a strong understanding of design functionality and project management.
The Design Manager will be responsible for:
- Leading the design process on building projects from feasibility to completion.
- Preparing concept designs, planning applications, building warrant applications, and statutory approvals.
- Collaborating with internal departments to value engineer and maximize efficiency.
- Providing design information to the purchasing team and reviewing and signing off orders for designed components.
- Liaising with the commercial team to ensure alignment between designs and cost plans.
- Planning project timescales and assessing project risks.
- Attending client meetings and site visits.
- Diligent filing of design information and issuing of drawing registers.
- Keeping up to date with the latest building standards and innovations in net zero design.
The successful candidate will be a practical, flexible individual who can motivate and add value to others. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Requirements:
- 5 years' experience in new build design.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to translate project briefs into design.
- Strong design viability knowledge.
- Extensive experience of planning regulations and conditions.
- Experience of environmental regulations and design materials compliance.
- Multi-discipline project management of design phases.
- Running of concurrent projects.
- Ability to review designs and drawings and have valid input on buildability.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of both design functionality and project management.
- An inquisitive individual who is open to learning new skills and gain new experiences.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
