Senior Estimator - Tunnelling Services

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Streamline Search Ltd, a leading technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in leading the estimating process for complex underground construction projects in the Tunnelling and Trenchless industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for tunnelling and underground construction projects.
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and design documentation to fully understand scope and requirements.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and senior leadership to develop estimates that align with project goals and client expectations.
  • Manage and mentor junior estimators, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Source and evaluate costs for materials, equipment, and subcontractors specific to tunnelling and underground construction.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive tender documents and proposals, ensuring all risks and opportunities are fully considered.
  • Maintain and update a database of historical costs and pricing information to inform future estimates.
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and design reviews to ensure a thorough understanding of project requirements.
  • Continuously monitor industry trends, cost fluctuations, and new technologies to ensure competitive and accurate estimating.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in estimating within the construction industry, specifically the Tunnelling and Trenchless industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading the estimating process for complex projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Membership in a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is desirable but not essential.
