Job Title: SEMH Support Specialist (Secondary Education)

Daily Compensation: £80 – £100

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students facing significant learning challenges? If so, GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Support Specialist to join our team in secondary education settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recognize and respond to students experiencing emotional crises, utilizing the Positive Behaviour Support System (PBS).
  • Provide individualized support to students with social, emotional, and mental health requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation of classroom activities, fostering independent learning and promoting essential social skills.
  • Adhere to Education Health Care Plans to ensure that educational outcomes are achieved.
  • Previous experience with Wellbeing and Mind Teams (WIMT) is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Educational Psychology services, Paediatricians, CAMHS, or Therapists is beneficial.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered with the update service or be prepared to apply for a new one through GSL Education.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide support on both an individual and small group basis.
  • Ensure compliance with Education Health Care Plans to meet student needs.
  • Engage students in dynamic lessons, including outdoor and creative learning experiences.
  • Facilitate social interactions among young people.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and external professionals, such as counselors and mental health experts.
  • Foster self-esteem, confidence, and emotional resilience in students to promote regular school attendance and active participation in educational and social activities.

It is essential for candidates to possess a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols. Successful applicants must complete all necessary background checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
