Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Nautical Science Lecturer to join our team at Red - Specialist Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and supporting students in a wide range of subjects, including Naval Architecture, Navigation, and Marine Law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and assessment in nautical science subject areas
  • Maintaining all relevant course and learner documentation, along with accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Evaluating courses and monitoring student progress
  • Providing advice and support to students
  • Contributing to the work of academic committees
  • Contributing to the College Quality Management and learning support systems
  • Contributing to the management and development of courses, including short courses
  • Participating in College marketing and other external events
  • Undertaking College consultancy and research activities
  • Acting as a College representative in national developments
  • Contributing to the appropriate committees
  • Contributing to academic innovation
  • Promoting the College Equality Policy in terms of staff and students

Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification in a STEM discipline or HND Nautical Science or equivalent
  • Educational teaching qualification or Train the Trainer certification (desirable)
  • Experience in a teaching/training role is highly desirable
  • OOW Certificate of Competency (Unlimited) and minimum of 12 months seatime served as OOW
  • Experience of working in a maritime environment
  • Passionate about supporting and motivating students
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team
  • Experience in a teaching or training role is highly desirable
  • Self-motivated, reliant, and have a desire to teach
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate learning to individuals with a variety of learning needs
