About the Role

Beeby Anderson Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Building Services team in Manchester. As a leading global professional services company, they are looking to reinforce their team with a skilled professional who can contribute to the development and growth of their business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with project requirements, utilizing a sound knowledge of technical engineering design relevant to the role.
  • Liaise with Senior Engineers and Engineering Technicians regarding design and drawing as part of a dynamic team that prioritizes absolute delivery.
  • Work in conjunction with a Mechanical Associate to survey, design, specify, and contract administer projects, undertaking a mixture of survey, design work, office-based project administration, and site attendances.
  • Carry out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
  • Attend design team meetings and inspect mechanical building services systems, reporting on findings.
  • Undertake Mechanical design work, including surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects, working in conjunction with other design team members as required.
  • Ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements.
  • Utilize Building Services software for calculations and produce marked-up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for costing and installation by Contractors.
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff.
Requirements
  • Hold a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and have experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements.
  • Ability to design principle mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A), including chilled water, domestic hot and cold water systems, heating systems, and use of Hevacomp / IES or equivalent.
  • Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD and understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance associated with the systems above.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
