Fleet Manager Job Description

Alternative Heat Limited is seeking a highly skilled Fleet Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the efficient management of our fleet of over 40 vehicles across multiple locations in the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee routine and preventive maintenance to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Schedule repairs and keep detailed records of service histories.
  • Evaluate the needs of the organisation to determine the types and quantities of vehicles required.
  • Manage the disposal of old or inefficient vehicles and oversee the acquisition of new ones.
  • Ensure that all fleet operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Implement and enforce safety policies to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
  • Monitor and control costs associated with the fleet, including fuel, maintenance, and insurance.
  • Implement cost-saving measures without compromising safety or efficiency.
  • Recruit and train drivers.
  • Monitor driver performance, including adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Keep track of all vehicles and related equipment.
  • Ensure that inventory levels are sufficient to meet operational needs without excessive surplus.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years in fleet management/operations on a fleet of 40+ vehicles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a diverse fleet of vehicles.
  • Familiarity with fleet management software and telematics systems.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair protocols.
  • In-depth understanding of transportation regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Experience in budget management and cost control for fleet operations.
  • Ability to identify and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations in fleet operations.
