Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of instrument and control engineers to deliver high-quality engineering design solutions.
  • Supervise and allocate work to engineers and designers, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Prepare scopes of work and estimates to support proposals, aligning with company budgets and programs.
  • Deliver engineering design solutions that meet client expectations and company standards.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other engineering disciplines and client/package vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Act as the design authority for all instrument and control systems.
  • Prepare, check, and approve design calculations, specifications, data sheets, reports, and drawings to British and International Standards and Codes of Practice.
  • Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and client standards.
  • Provide specialist design input to 3D models and ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare technical analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors.
  • Interpret vendor and other discipline drawings/information to ensure accurate understanding.
  • Attend and participate in safety reviews, risk reviews, planning reviews, model reviews, and constructability reviews.
  • Identify and raise scope changes to ensure project scope is accurately reflected.
  • Comply with company quality management systems and ensure adherence to industry standards.
Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Background in heavy engineering, chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas industries.
  • Minimum of 10 years of instrument and control experience, preferably in oil and gas, chemicals, and/or other high-hazard process industries.
  • Appropriate technical engineering degree and preferably a chartered engineer with an appropriate institution.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and allocate work appropriately to design staff.
  • Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments.
  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients and vendors at all levels of the business.
  • Expertise using MS Office suite and some knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of ATEX and equipment for electrically hazardous areas.
  • Knowledge or experience of functional safety, preferably holding a suitable FS qualification.
