About the Role

ASM Global is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Event Technician to join our team at Connexin Live in Hull. As an Event Technician, you will be responsible for assisting the effective delivery of the technical and production aspects of events at the venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the technical delivery of events in the main auditorium and all associated breakout spaces within the building.
  • Support during events, load in and load outs both internally and externally, and act as event engineer, including the installation of temporary power, operation of the building's sound and lighting systems, and event time reactive maintenance.
  • Assist with the advancing of events at Connexin Live, liaising with promoters, tour managers, and event organizers.
  • Assist the senior technician in the development and delivery of training for relevant staff.
  • Assist the senior technician in maintaining relevant risk assessments and safe systems of work in line with Health and Safety Legislation and approved codes of practice.
  • Ensure the use of all PPE provided when required for working activities in line with method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure all work activities comply with ASM Global Health and Safety policies.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an events-based environment, ideally within a similar multi-purpose space with a mixed program.
  • Ability to work without supervision and take responsibility for problem-solving, fault-finding, and repairs as required.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues regarding production and stage production.
  • Experience of maintaining technical equipment to a high standard, both proactively and reactively.
  • Excellent IT knowledge, including use of MS Office packages.
  • Passion about service delivery standards and keen to lead by example.
  • Working knowledge of the statutory requirements relevant to live events.
  • Understanding of electrical safety relevant to the live events industry.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD to interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience of DANTE audio networks.
  • Experience of event lighting, including DMX, Art-Net, and sACN.
  • Recent counterbalance Forklift Truck training.
  • Knowledge of BS7909 in relation to electrical systems and willingness to undertake further training.

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the role, there will be a requirement to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays. The role will involve physical labor tasks, including manual handling. There may be a requirement to work at other venues operated by ASM Global.
