Position Overview

Are you currently serving as a Band 3 Therapy/Physio/OT support worker or functioning in a Band 4 role? Perhaps you are an established Band 4 Therapy Support Specialist looking for a fresh opportunity in a different field? This year marks a significant expansion in our facilities, allowing us to introduce new Therapy Support Specialist positions focused on providing exceptional care in Trauma and Orthopaedics for inpatients, as well as an Outreach Service for Arthroplasty.

Key Responsibilities

The role will enhance your existing Band 3 competencies, granting you greater responsibilities. You will work independently under the guidance of registered therapists, managing an assigned caseload. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to make informed decisions autonomously. You will be expected to proactively address challenges and demonstrate initiative.

Your duties will be diverse and demanding, requiring effective multitasking while maintaining a compassionate and supportive demeanor, which is fundamental to our mission of making a positive impact on our patients and team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Education to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Demonstrated competence in mathematics and proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Educated to A Level/NVQ 3/BTEC or equivalent, with relevant experience in a care setting.
  • Care certificate or willingness to work towards it.

Desirable

  • Evidence of recent education or personal development related to healthcare.
  • Proactive engagement in continuing professional development.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience supporting therapists in a relevant clinical environment.
  • Experience in delivering acute inpatient rehabilitation programs across various clinical settings, with evidence of multidisciplinary collaboration and discharge planning.
  • In-depth understanding of therapy-related areas, including the impact of illness and disability on function and health, as well as the fundamental goals of rehabilitation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the role of a therapy support worker in the relevant field.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in healthcare.

Desirable

  • Experience in communicating with and motivating patients with communication challenges.
  • Good understanding of working in Trauma & Orthopaedic wards.
  • Familiarity with the healthcare/NHS environment.
