About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school providing day support for young people with Autism spectrum conditions or additional special educational needs.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners on a 1:1 and classroom basis, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can thrive in a safe and enabling environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students during class, ensuring they stay on track and meet their learning goals.
  • Liaise with the class teacher to ensure a smooth-running class and effective communication.
  • Enable learners to access the curriculum, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Support the pastoral needs of learners, providing emotional support and guidance.
  • Contribute to setting the learning environment, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Support learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, engaging them in a range of activities throughout the day.
Requirements
  • Ability to work with learners who have various learning difficulties.
  • Confidence to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • NVQ level 2 in Teaching and Learning (desirable but not essential).
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent.
