Housing Nomination Specialist

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week

Location: Various locations across Neath Port Talbot

The Homelessness Assessment, Prevention & Support Services are seeking a dedicated Housing Nomination Specialist to become a vital part of our team.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the process of nominating individuals experiencing homelessness for social housing, ensuring a person-centered approach is utilized to align the most suitable applicants with the available properties.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Engaging with clients and partner organizations to ensure their feedback is incorporated into service development.
  • Maintaining effective communication with Registered Social Landlord providers.
  • Collaborating closely with team members to ensure:
  • The nominations process is efficient and effective, presenting the most suitable candidates for housing.
  • Conducting precise financial assessments to verify eligibility for any nominations.
  • Staying informed about relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and best practices.
  • Assisting in the preparation and compilation of reports and statistical data as required by management.
  • Establishing a robust network of collaborative relationships both internally and externally by fostering positive working relationships with other key departments within the Local Authority.
  • Addressing safeguarding concerns in accordance with established policies.

Applicants should possess experience in:

  • Working within a team that provides direct housing support to clients.
  • Knowledge and experience in collaborating with Registered Social Landlords.
  • Completing tasks efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Working effectively under pressure and adapting to changing circumstances.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • Being proficient in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs (grades C and above) or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language.
  • High levels of initiative and self-motivation.
  • Access to reliable transportation, such as a driving license and car, is essential for effective travel to various locations.
