Position: Child and Family Support Specialist
Location: Blackburn, Lancashire
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £13.50 per hour

Are you dedicated to enhancing the lives of young individuals and their families? Do you possess the empathy and skills necessary to assist families in navigating challenges and fostering their children's success? If this resonates with you, we invite you to consider joining our team at Teaching Personnel.

About Us:
We are a specialized SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) educational institution committed to supporting students with intricate needs. Our environment is nurturing and inclusive, aimed at encouraging every student to achieve their utmost potential. We believe that a robust partnership between educational settings and home life is vital for student success, and our Child and Family Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in nurturing these connections.

The Role:
As a Child and Family Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating closely with families to provide guidance, support, and practical advice, assisting them in overcoming obstacles that may affect their child's educational journey and overall well-being.
  • Establishing strong, trusting relationships with families, serving as a key liaison between home and educational staff.
  • Helping families access local services and resources, including mental health support, financial aid, and community initiatives.
  • Working in partnership with educators, SEN specialists, and external organizations to develop a coordinated support strategy for each student.
  • Assisting in the creation and delivery of workshops and programs designed to enhance parenting skills, emotional health, and family relationships.
  • Providing individualized support for students and parents, addressing specific challenges and facilitating the resolution of issues that may arise.

What We Seek:

  • Experience in working with families, particularly in a supportive or advisory capacity, ideally within an educational or SEMH context.
  • A compassionate, non-judgmental demeanor, with outstanding listening and communication abilities.
  • A solid understanding of the challenges faced by families with children who have SEMH needs.
  • The capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Relevant qualifications in social work, family support, or a related discipline, or a willingness to pursue further training.

If you are prepared to embrace this significant and fulfilling role, we encourage you to explore this opportunity further.
